Dizziness
Ongoing dizziness and unsteadiness often come from the vestibular system. We assess the cause and guide vestibular rehabilitation to restore balance and confidence at our Marple clinic.

Understanding Your Condition
Dizziness is a broad term covering sensations of lightheadedness, unsteadiness, feeling faint or off-balance. When it's ongoing or recurrent, it often comes from a problem in the vestibular system in the inner ear — and it can significantly affect confidence, activity and quality of life.
The good news is that vestibular rehabilitation is highly effective for many forms of ongoing dizziness. At Complete Recovery Physiotherapy in Marple, we assess the cause and guide a structured programme that retrains your balance system and restores your confidence to move normally.

What You Feel
- Ongoing or recurrent dizziness and unsteadiness
- Feeling off-balance or light-headed
- Discomfort with quick head or body movements
- Unsteadiness when walking or turning
- Sensation of being pulled to one side
- Difficulty in busy visual environments like supermarkets
- Reduced confidence to move normally
- Dizziness worsening with fatigue or stress
Common Causes
- Vestibular neuritis or inflammation of the balance nerve
- Persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD)
- Following BPPV or an inner ear problem
- Head injury or concussion
- Age-related changes in the vestibular system
- Migraine-associated dizziness
- Prolonged inactivity or bed rest
- Sometimes follows a period of illness
Who Physiotherapy Can Help
Ongoing dizziness affects adults of all ages — particularly older adults, in whom vestibular problems and balance changes are common. We help people with dizziness that's lingered after an inner ear problem, following a head injury, or that's become a persistent, daily problem.
If you have ongoing or recurrent dizziness and unsteadiness that's affecting your confidence and activity, vestibular rehabilitation can make a real difference. We assess carefully and guide the right programme.
Struggling with Dizziness?
Book your assessment today. We'll find the root cause and start hands-on treatment in your first session.
Your Assessment
Your assessment identifies the cause and pattern of your dizziness. We take a detailed history, assess your balance and eye movements, screen for BPPV and other vestibular causes, and screen for other problems needing medical review.
Understanding your specific dizziness pattern is what shapes an effective programme. We'll explain what's causing your symptoms and build a vestibular rehabilitation plan to retrain your balance.
How We Treat It
Our hands-on treatment approach:
- Assessment to identify the cause and pattern of your dizziness
- Vestibular rehabilitation exercises to retrain the balance system
- Balance and gaze-stability work
- Habituation exercises for movement-triggered dizziness
- Advice on managing triggers and building tolerance
- A progressive plan to restore confidence and normal activity
Expected Recovery
Vestibular rehabilitation typically produces improvement over 6–12 weeks of consistent practice. The brain adapts and retrains to interpret balance signals correctly — a process called neuroplasticity — so progress is real and lasting.
Consistent, correctly-progressed exercises are the key. We guide your progress and adjust the programme as your balance improves, so you keep moving toward confident, normal activity.
Everything You Need to Know Before Booking
No GP referral needed. Direct access appointments available — often same-day or within a few days.
What Happens at Your First Appointment
Your first session is a 45-minute comprehensive assessment. We start by listening — understanding your symptoms, your history, and what you want to get back to. We then carry out a thorough hands-on physical examination to identify the root cause of your problem. You'll receive a clear explanation of what's going on, a personalised treatment plan, and hands-on treatment begins in that very first session. You leave knowing exactly what's wrong, what we'll do about it, and how long recovery will take.
What Should I Wear?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area we're treating. For knee, hip, or leg problems, shorts are ideal. For shoulder, neck, or back issues, a loose top or vest works well. You'll never be asked to undress beyond what's necessary for examination and treatment, and you'll always be treated with dignity and respect in our private treatment room.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
This depends on your condition, how long you've had it, and your goals. Many patients feel significant improvement within 3–6 sessions. Acute injuries often resolve faster, while long-standing or complex conditions may need more. We'll give you a clear treatment timeline at your first appointment — and we only ever recommend sessions you genuinely need. Our goal is to get you independent and pain-free as quickly as possible, not to keep you coming back.
Can I Claim Through Insurance?
Yes. We are recognised by most major health insurance providers including AXA, Vitality, Bupa, WPA, and Healix. We can bill your insurer directly so you don't need to pay upfront — simply bring your insurance authorisation number to your appointment. If you're not sure whether you're covered, call us and we'll help you check before you book.
