Sports Physio
Whether you’re a weekend warrior, a dedicated athlete, or someone who simply loves staying active, sports injuries can be incredibly frustrating and hold you back from doing what you enjoy. At Complete Recovery Physio in Marple, Stockport, our specialist sports physiotherapy service is designed to help you recover fully, safely, and as quickly as possible.
We create a personalised recovery plan tailored to your specific sport, goals, and lifestyle. Our experienced physiotherapists will support and guide you through every stage of your rehabilitation, helping you return to full fitness with confidence while also reducing the risk of future injuries.
Sports physiotherapy is suitable for anyone dealing with pain, injury, or performance issues linked to physical activity. We work with a wide range of individuals — from recreational gym-goers and runners to teenage footballers, weekend cyclists, and elite athletes.
Common conditions we treat include ligament sprains, muscle strains, tendinopathy, and joint pain (particularly in the shoulder, knee, and ankle), as well as post-surgical rehabilitation and recurring overuse injuries. We also support those looking to improve movement quality, optimise biomechanics, refine running technique, or return to sport safely after time away.
Whether you’re preparing for a marathon or simply want to enjoy a pain-free five-a-side game, our approach is tailored to help you move better, recover effectively, and perform at your best.
Your first session begins with a comprehensive assessment of your injury, movement patterns, strength, and overall biomechanics. We’ll analyse how your body moves, identify any imbalances or weak areas, and create a tailored treatment plan aligned with your goals — whether that’s returning to sport, reducing the risk of re-injury, or improving performance.
Treatment may include a combination of hands-on therapy, joint and soft tissue techniques, taping, acupuncture, or shockwave. Most importantly, it will include a structured, progressive rehabilitation and strengthening programme designed to support long-term results.
We follow a clear, staged approach:
Phase 1 focuses on reducing pain and settling symptoms,
Phase 2 introduces targeted rehabilitation,
Phase 3 builds strength, control, and sport-specific resilience,
Phase 4 supports long-term maintenance and performance — often through a gym or home exercise plan. For some clients we continue with for structured rehabilitation support with 1:1 rehabilitation sessions in clinic on a weekly to monthly basis.
The aim of sports physiotherapy goes beyond simply treating your current injury — it’s about reducing the risk of it returning. With the right combination of treatment and rehabilitation, you can recover more efficiently, ease pain, and restore full movement and function.
Our approach is tailored to your specific sport or activity, helping you come back stronger, more confident, and with a clearer understanding of how your body performs and responds to load. Many of our patients not only recover but go on to improve their performance and experience fewer injuries over time.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply want to stay active without setbacks, sports physiotherapy is a valuable investment in your long-term physical health.

I had a deep tissue massage focusing on my back and legs, and it was absolutely amazing! The pressure was perfect, and I left feeling so much lighter and completely relaxed. I’m really pleased with the whole experience and will definitely be coming back again. Highly recommend!

After just 4 sessions, I've been given some strength-building and stretching exercises which have reduced my pain massively and reduced the effect on my day-to-day life. I'm now in a much-improved position where I can continue to self manage and I'm confident it will only continue to improve.
Rob is friendly and knowledgeable and his facilities are professional and welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him if you need any support!

Booked an appointment easily through the website and have had multiple appointments with Rob, who is brilliant, and is helping me to recover from a sporting injury.
There is a really useful triage assessment that you can complete on the website. I found this to be really good.
