New to Complete Recovery Physio?

Here is Everything You Need to Know

Welcome to Complete Recovery Physiotherapy

Whether you’re coming for your first physiotherapy appointment, dealing with back or neck pain, recovering from an injury or surgery, or looking to improve your mobility and strength — you’re very welcome here.

At our Marple clinic, we offer a friendly, professional environment with a strong focus on helping you achieve meaningful and lasting results. Our aim is to reduce your pain, restore movement, and get you back to the activities you enjoy.

How to Book

Booking is straightforward. You can:

  •

Not sure which appointment type is best for you? No problem — just give us a call. We’re happy to discuss your situation and recommend the most suitable option.

We look forward to supporting you on your recovery journey.

What to Expect At Your First Appointment

Initial appointments are usually 50 minutes long. This gives us plenty of time to take a detailed history, carry out a thorough assessment, and start treatment during your first visit.

Follow-up sessions are typically 30 minutes, although we can book longer appointments if your condition requires more time.

During your session you can expect:

  • A full assessment of your problem
  • Hands-on treatment where appropriate
  • Clear explanation of the diagnosis
  • Personalised advice and a tailored rehabilitation plan

What to Wear

Please wear something comfortable and easy to move in — gym clothes, joggers, leggings or shorts work well. If we are assessing or treating your upper body, a vest top or sports bra is helpful so we can examine your shoulder, neck or back properly.

Before Your Appointment

A few days before your visit, we’ll email you a short form to complete (medical history and consent). Filling these in advance helps us prepare for your appointment and ensures we make the most of your time with us.

FAQs

New Patient Frequently Asked Questions

1: What happens after your first appointment?

Your Treatment Journey

Your first appointment is all about truly understanding your problem — what’s causing it, what’s making it worse, and how it’s affecting your daily life. From this detailed assessment we’ll give you a clear diagnosis and a personalised treatment plan.

Recovery from most musculoskeletal issues takes time. On average, patients need 6–10 sessions to achieve lasting results. This is because we don’t just treat the pain — we address the underlying strength deficits, movement patterns, and muscle imbalances that often cause the problem to return.

For example, with an arthritic knee we may reduce pain and swelling in the early sessions and refer you for an MRI if needed. However, long-term success comes from progressively rebuilding strength and control around the joint. Muscles take consistent, well-guided loading to recover properly.

Many patients choose to continue with occasional 1:1 rehabilitation sessions on a fortnightly or monthly basis after their main treatment course. These sessions help maintain progress, continue improving strength and mobility, and reduce the chance of the problem returning.

Treatment Packages

You can pay session by session (£70 for the Initial Assessment and £50 per follow-up), or choose one of our treatment packages and save money.

All packages include Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) where clinically indicated, at no additional cost.

Relief Package – Initial Assessment + 5 Follow-up Sessions, £305 (Save £15)

Recovery Package – Initial Assessment + 7 Follow-up Sessions, £390 (Save £30)

Resilience Package – Initial Assessment + 9 Follow-up Sessions, £470 (Save £50)

4. How to Pay

How to Pay

We offer flexible and convenient payment options:

  • Cash
  • Debit / Credit Cards
  • Apple Pay / Google Wallet

Insurance Patients (Bupa, AXA, etc.)

We are recognised by major insurance providers including but not limited to Bupa and AXA. Before booking your appointment, please contact your insurer to obtain a pre-authorisation (pre-auth) code and to check if you have any excess to pay.

Any excess fee will be collected at your first appointment. We will always let you know the exact amount in advance.

Booking Security & Deposits

To secure your appointment, we kindly ask all patients to provide card details and pay a £10 deposit at the time of booking.

  • For insurance patients with a valid pre-authorisation code, no deposit is required but we do take payment details to manage unforeseen excess payments.
  • Your card details are held securely and can be used for any remaining balance if you prefer.
  • You are also welcome to pay any outstanding balance using cash, card, Apple Pay, or Google Wallet.

Your £10 deposit is fully refundable or deducted from your treatment cost.

5: Late Cancelation / Non Attended Session Fees

Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

This allows us to offer the slot to another patient who may be waiting for treatment. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, or you do not attend your appointment, the full session fee may be charged.

We completely understand that genuine emergencies can happen. In cases of sudden illness, family emergencies, or other unavoidable circumstances such as traffic, please just let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to waive the cancellation fee.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us run the clinic efficiently so we can continue to offer timely appointments to all our patients.

6: Bringing Children or Chaperone to Appointments

You are welcome to attend appointments with children or a chaperone. There is no need to inform us of this prior to the appointment.

For children undergoing treatment, a parent must be present for all under 16s.

7: How Many Sessions are Required?

This varies from person to person. Some people notice significant improvement after just a few sessions, while others need a longer, more structured rehabilitation programme.

Most patients achieve the best results with a combination of hands-on treatment and personalised exercises, typically over 6 to 10 sessions. We’ll regularly review your progress and adjust the plan with you to make sure we’re always working towards your individual goals.

8: Does Treatment Hurt?

Most of our treatments are gentle and comfortable. Some hands-on techniques or exercises may cause mild discomfort while we’re working on stiff or painful areas, but this is usually short-lived. We always work within your comfort levels and will adjust the treatment if anything feels too strong.

9: What Should I Wear?

Please wear something comfortable and easy to move in — gym clothes, leggings, shorts, or joggers are ideal. If we’re treating your upper body (neck, shoulder, or back), a vest top or sports bra makes the assessment and treatment much easier.

10: Do I need to get Undress?

No, you won’t need to fully undress. We only need access to the area we’re treating, We can usually work around shorts / vest tops / loose t-shirts but in some circumstances removing these may be beneficial for assessment and treatment. We will never ask you to remove underwear, and we always provide towels for privacy and dignity.

The treatment area is behind a curtain so you can get yourself ready in privacy.

11. Do I have to pay extra for treatments like Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave is included in our treatment packages at no extra cost.

If paying as you go, there is an additional cost of £15 per session – or a package of 3 sessions can be purchased for £40 and used along side pay as you go sessions.

12. Can I claim on my insurance?

Yes. We are recognised by major insurers including Bupa and AXA. Please contact your insurer before booking to get a pre-authorisation code and check any excess you may need to pay.

Some cash plans refund you for treatment, where you pay for sessions and you forward our invoice and professional registration details for you to claim funds back. Please check for any limits to this / or excess prior to booking.

13. Can I Bring Someone With Me?

Of course. You’re welcome to bring a friend, partner, or family member to your appointments if it makes you feel more comfortable.

14. Can You Refer Me for a Scan?

15. What if I have a long-term condition or I’m nervous about exercising?

We’re very experienced in treating people with long-term conditions and those who feel anxious about movement. We’ll take things at your pace, explain everything clearly, and build a safe, gradual programme that suits your fitness level and goals.

Rob was absolutely brilliant right from the first session. I had a very complex injury which he was able to advise on in a non-judgmental way. He is extremely knowledgable, helpful and was able to make so many individualised recommendations in terms of exercises and equipment. The support and advice he provided has made a HUGE difference and I really can’t recommend enough!

I had a deep tissue massage focusing on my back and legs, and it was absolutely amazing! The pressure was perfect, and I left feeling so much lighter and completely relaxed. I’m really pleased with the whole experience and will definitely be coming back again. Highly recommend!

Have been to see Rob twice now for a neck and shoulder strain and Robert asked me a number of questions to support some of the recovery methods he suggested. Rob was knowledgable, attentive and provided a very good massage around and on affected areas, which during the week helped my recovery. My second session was similar to the first and Rob checked affected areas for further tension and any pain.
I have to say since seeing Robert I have made a full recovery and very pleased with the result, happy I went to see him and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Thanks again Complete Recovery Physiotherapy.

I would definitely recommend Rob at Complete Recovery Physiotherapy. I was a bit uncertain at first as to what to expect and how effective physio would be for me. Rob is extremely professional, and knowledgeable. He puts you at your ease and explains everything as he goes along. I am happy to say that after months if not years of not being able to turn my neck properly - I saw an improvement in two sessions and now I'm committed to continuing the exercises as my neck and back are improving week by week. Thank you Rob

I came to see Rob regarding ankle/foot/calf issue. I was using painkillers, hot/cold sprays, tubi grips. All this was adding up moneywise. I am so glad I decided to contact Rob rather than wait for months to be seen on the NHS. Within a couple of weeks of seeing Rob I had a great improvement, enough that I stopped the above selfcare. I can recommend Complete Recovery Physiotherapy .

Excellent! Rob began with a review where he made certain that he completely understood my medical history and my current problems. He then designed an exercise programme tailored to my needs. I have followed the programme and had 4 further physiotherapy sessions at my home with Rob, resulting in a significant improvement in my mobility and pain levels..
Rob is great guy, friendly, sympathetic and a good listener. He clearly knows his stuff. I strongly recommend him.

I'd been having trouble with my back for over a year and not had much luck with seeing the GP so did some research and came across Rob's services.
After just 4 sessions, I've been given some strength-building and stretching exercises which have reduced my pain massively and reduced the effect on my day-to-day life. I'm now in a much-improved position where I can continue to self manage and I'm confident it will only continue to improve.
Rob is friendly and knowledgeable and his facilities are professional and welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him if you need any support!

I contacted Rob because I was having pain in my neck. After two visits to him, I'm already starting to feel less pain. Rob gave me tips to keep the pain away.
and set me up on an app that gave me a neck program to complete each day, which does help. Rob is happy to answer any questions you may have and walk you through what he is going to do and how you can help yourself. If you're in pain, don't hesitate to contact Rob. You will thank yourself for it. Thanks for all your help, Rob.

I found Rob to be extremely knowledgeable with information regarding the affected areas and efficient when it came to giving me an exercise plan. I would highly recommend Rob and wouldn't hesitate in contacting Rob in the future regarding any muscular problems or (hopefully not) breaks and fractures.

I went to see Rob in a lot of pain having been told by my doctor I had arthritis and that was that. It wasn’t arthritis; and after a thorough examination, I was given daily exercises. He put them on an app so they were really easy to follow and I could rate my pain. I very quickly started to feel better and now feel no pain and my strength is improving.
Very good and he was very helpful...and good advice
